It's hard to sit in my home here in Portland and imagine that in a short time I'll be in Egypt, a country I hardly even considered visiting until a few months ago. In the last few days I've been excited, nervous, frustrated, anxious, lazy, rushed and finally relaxed. Of course, I still have about 36.5 hours to go until I take off, and I'll probably experience about that many emotions in the mean time.
My big stress-creator for the week so far: I discovered as I went to buy travel insurance yesterday that my credit card had EXPIRED! GASP! I called my credit union to ask why I hadn't received a replacement and they told me it's because the design I lave (a lovely sunset on the Oregon Coast) isn't currently available. I told them I don't care what the card looks like, I'm leaving for vacation and I need a card. After several hours, the customer service rep arranged to have one rushed to my credit union branch. Now I'm just hoping it arrives by tomorrow! If not, that could put a bit of a damper on my travels.
The good news is, I'm am packed! Almost everything I plan to take is already in my backpack or carry-on. I have a few more things to pick up tomorrow, then I'm ready to go. Well, ready as I'll ever be (except for that credit card...)
